Dear Colleague,
Mark you calendar: On 11-15 September 2022 you should plan to be in 
	Warsaw, Poland and experience FIG Congress 2022. If you want to be included 
	in the proceedings and programme, now is the time to submit an abstract. The 
	Call for Papers is out both for peer review and non-peer review papers. 
	There will be exciting pre-events, a spectacular technical programme, tours 
	and social gatherings that you should not miss. 
	The Volunteer Community Surveyors Programme (VCSP) also invites to a new 
	Wisdom Workshop.
	In this newsletter you will furthermore be introduced to how FIG is working 
	with the SDGs. The Task Force on FIG and the SDGs will over the coming 
	months in the newsletter lead you through relevant SDG’s materials for 
	surveyors and geospatial professionals.

The positions are volunteer but are high prestigious positions with a large responsibility and commitment. Nominations must be submitted and supported by the national member association. In doubt? 	The dates have now been settled for the FIG Congress 2022.  It is our hope that in 
	September 2022 the COVID19 situation will have improved so much that we will 
	be able to meet again in person and have for that reason moved the Congress 
	to September.
	We will meet in Warsaw, Poland 11-15 September 2022. 
The local organisers from SGP - the Polish Association of Surveyors - together with FIG, are fully occupied with the preparations of this special event that has to be organised within a year. The Congress only takes place once every 4 years, and it marks the final year of the current leadership of FIG, the council and commissions and there will be elections for a new President and new Vice Presidents.
The call for papers has been published. Do you want to contribute to the programme? Do you want your paper to be included in the Congress proceedings? Now is the time to submit your abstract.
The overall theme is Volunteering for the future - Geospatial excellence for a better living with the sub themes
Geospatial excellence and all related professions and topics are now seen in a much broader context and as public goods and beneficial for the well-being and betterment of the entire society.

	The deadline for submission of abstract is for non-peer review papers until
	31 January 2022 and for the submission of full 
	paper and abstract for peer review papers is 2 January 2022.

			The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will re-shape and influence 
			our profession profoundly in this decade. The FIG Taskforce has 
			developed a FIG page dedicated to highlight FIG’s overall dedication 
			to promote the SDG’s, including relevant SDG’s materials for 
			surveyors and geospatial professionals. By sharing experiences and 
			publications we can inspire the whole FIG community.

A new initiative from FIG has been set in motion to give all Corporate Members the opportunity to increase the attention to their corporation through FIG. The initiative is called ‘Corporate Member of the Month' and will be based on information send by you to FIG on initiatives from your establishment e.g., innovative portfolio, profile, or just inspiring initiatives etc. Do you have any news you want to share? HRH The Prince of Wales calls for collective action on sustainable urbanisation in the Commonwealth. At a high-level event convened on the eve of COP26 by The Prince’s Foundation and key Commonwealth partners, participants considered ways in which the Commonwealth can respond to the ‘triple threat’ of climate change, rapid urbanisation and the Covid-19 pandemic, and the need for collaboration if the targets are to be met within the limited time now available.
