PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE HELLENIC CADASTRAL DATA

Dr. Chryssy POTSIOU and Prof. John BADEKAS, Greece

Key words: Cadastral data, Hellenic Cadastre.

Abstract

In the recent years a considerably important program for the establishment of a modern cadastre for the whole country is under way. The planning of this project has created many complications, most of which are originated from the lack of relevant data. For instance the total number of land-parcels and the rights or the persons involved in every part of the country was not known and it is not yet known.

Now, however when the KTIMATOLOGIO S.A., the company responsible for the implementation of the cadastre in Greece is completing cadastral surveys throughout the country, these data will be acquired. Even from the initial surveying programs a good picture of the missing data will be formed.

The first three programs contain two pilot projects and the 1rst Main Program. They include all together 345 municipalities, 2.700.000 declarations, 4.000.000 parcels and about 200.000 disputes.

The analysis of the cadastral data derived from the above mentioned CS's can give a considerable amount of information related to the distribution of the declared rights and to the type of the submitted disputes. Additional and quite interesting results for the Project, can be derived through the examination of the submitted disputes by the committees defined by the cadastral law. These results give a representative picture of the present state of the art of the land tenure in Greece.
