Commission 2: Professional Education

  • Professional surveying education (vocational, higher and academic education) curriculum development.
  • Professional surveying education (vocational, higher and academic education) learning and teaching methods and technologies
  • The role of professional education and its relation to the public sector, private sector and professional organizations.

Commission 3: Spatial Information Management
Chair: Prof. Dr. -Ing. Hartmut Müller, Mainz University of Applied Sciences, GERMANY

  • The use of Spatial Information Management SIM (geospatial data, tools, procedures, regulations, standards);
  • The support of good governance (sustainable development, poverty reduction, social and economic growth, social security);
  • Spatial data infrastructure SDI;
  • The use of crowdsourced Volunteered Geographic Information VGI to geoscientific disciplines that make use of mapping, GIS, and SDI systems and procedures;

Commission 4: Hydrography

  • Promotion of hydrographic education, training, Continual Professional Development (CPD) and career pathways within the profession;

Commission 5: Positioning and Measurement
Chair: Mr. Daniel R. Roman, Chief Geodesist, U.S. National Geodetic Survey, UNITED STATES

  • The science of measurement (instrumentation, methodology and guidelines)
  • The acquisition of accurate and reliable survey data related to the position, size and shape of natural and artificial features of the earth and its environment and including variation with time consistent with internationally adopted standards and models.
Commission 6: Engineering Surveys

  • Design of accurate, robust and reliable surveying systems to be applied to at construction sites or for monitoring proposes.

Commission 10: Construction Economics and Management

Functions:

  • To provide independent, objective, accurate, and reliable capital and operating cost assessments usable for investment funding and project control across buildings and infrastructure; and
  • To analyse investment and development for the guidance of owners, financiers and contractors across buildings and infrastructure.
