The main FIG event, FIG Working Week 2025 in Brisbane, Australia, is
just around the corner including the FIG General Assembly. Already this
week the first activities start - on Saturday 5 April pre-events such
as the Young Surveyors Conference and a Reference Frame in Practice
Seminar are held. On the following day, the first General Assembly will
hopefully attract many member representatives, and includes reports
from various FIG activities, introduction to Commission Chairs Elects
candidates and the two bidders for the destination of the FIG Working
Week 2029. On 7-9 April the doors open for a wealth of sessions,
workshops, discussions, experiences, networking,
in the technical programme. Have you thought of the
benefits your association or organisation get from being member of FIG?
And which benefits it gives you? FIG Presidents discussed this at three
online meetings in February which will continue at the Presidents
meeting during the Working Week. You can see the provisional result on
the Benefits page
of FIG website. What matters to you?
Hope to see you in Brisbane...

FIG and Geospatial Council of Australia have the honour to invite you to the FIG Working Week 2025 held jointly with the national event Locate25.
This spectacular event will be held in Brisbane Convention & Exhibtion Centre (BCEC) in the capital city of Queensland, Australia. The dynamic city of Brisbane shows seamless blends of urban sophistication with cutting-edge technology and research, making it the perfect location for geospatial and surveying experts and its related professions.
We do hope to see many both international and national participants
In the morning of each of the three conference days the plenary sessions include current topics by highly respected presenters:
Plenary session 1 : Monday 7 April 2025 11:00-13:00 Seeks to set the tone of the 3 days conferencing in the context of the power of Geography and geospatial ecosystem. This encompasses the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, as well as the human activity/ populations and effects, resources and economic activities.
Plenary session 2: Tuesday 8 April 2025 9:00 - 11:00 Continuing the climate focus, it seeks to create and define what is a resilient relationship between land, climate change and people. As professionals leading in the land, marine and built environment, it is imperative that we rethink core assumptions, challenge established norms, and ensure future-proof practices and standards.
Plenary Session 3: Wednesday 9 April 2025 9:00 - 11:00 Will consider the professional standards, competencies and appropriate skills to ensure competent professionals in a digital generation. We need to ensure that our skills, training and development keeps us relevant, particularly in relation to transformation and technology that is essential across all our survey and geospatial disciplines.
Take a look at the detailed technical programme with a large and broad selection of sessions.

The extended book introduces the reader to the Land
Administration Domain Model (LADM) through examples. It starts by
giving the reader an overview of core LADM concepts then proceeds to
illustrate how data about different people-to-land relationships can
be organized using LADM. Each example represents a scenario that can
be encountered in a Land Administration System. The scenarios used
in examples are derived from the Land Administration System of the
hypothetical town of Watteriver together with its surrounding rural
areas. Each case, representing a particular scenario, is presented
both conceptually and using a simplified representation of a
database in which data are stored concretely. A demonstration
dataset, accompanying GIS project, and reusable slides are available
online - details in the book. |
